Sacrifice of Control

At the heart of The Fall in the Bible is a desire for control, or rather, the desire to not have anyone be able to control us. As humans, we don’t want anyone to tell us what to do and when to do it. The Bible shows us that when we grasp for that control, we often end up hurting ourselves and others. When we fail to trust what God has in store or that he can redeem or even alter our outcomes, we make the story about us and that's never a good thing. This week, we will look at one story where the people are confronted with situations that they never wanted to be in. We will look at how they dealt with it and what it asked of them. We will then ask ourselves: How do we deal with control? Why do we desire it? Why are we afraid to give it up? Why do we think we are better off when we are in control?
