The Pursuing God- Week 2

The crucifixion of Jesus shows God's pursuit of us. God makes several loud statements about his love for us through this sacrifice. The cross is Jesus joining us in our distance from God, in order to bring us home to God. The cross speaks honestly about a debt that had to be paid, and about a God who was willing to pay it. The cross reveals the deepest love of the Father as he endures the greatest sacrifice of all. The cross preaches to us that we don't take communion or enter the waters of baptism to show Jesus that we will be faithful to him, we do it in celebration of the reality that he will always be faithful to us.
