The World, The Flesh, and The Devil - Week 1

In the first week of a new series, The World, the Flesh, and the Devil, we look to Matthew 4 where Jesus is tested by Satan in the wilderness and shows us that even when tempted, life is not only (or even mostly) about fulfilling our needs or controlling our circumstances. Life is defined by more. Life means more. To be fully human and to fully flourish we need more; we need identity and value. He is not defined by his circumstances, whether good or bad. Instead, he is defined by his Father’s words, regardless of where his Father leads.
