The Power of Welcome - Week 1

Our minds have been trained to think in terms of customer service or customer appeasement, so when we start talking about something like hospitality it can be easy to think that is what we mean. However, in scripture hospitality is actually core to describing who God is. If you or I have a weak definition of that, then we may have a weak definition of God. Hospitality, or desiring to host someone, says to that person that they matter, that God wants to be with them, God wants to provide for them, and that God wants to know them. For the majority of the Christian faith, the people of Jesus have been known as the most hospitable people on the earth. In the West now that isn't the case. During this study, we want to talk about why hospitality is so important and why, when we overlook it, we are telling an incomplete story about our God and about what our God has done of us.
